about

I decided to do an instrumental album the first time I heard Deadringer as a young beatmaking teenager. It took me a little over a decade to figure out how to tackle it,  because I wanted it to be challenging and I wanted to learn from it. Recently, Ableton has kinda clicked in my head differently (yet again) and I began using noise to make music. Harmonized recordings from the subway, psychedelic samples playing from bar jukeboxes, etc. I began grabbing weird sounds and reverse engineering them back to sounding musical, while adding on instruments/ drums on top once the tone was set. Very simple layering with really complex tools. I decided it was a great theme for an album

I wanted to do this project live, as a goal of mine is to amass a few of the homies for an instro hiphop/electronic tour this year. So I grabbed the recent sounds I'd collected, and in one sitting started layering them together in realtime until I felt the thought was complete. A decade of planning, 40 minutes to execute. Life is weird like that.

Sonically it's my weirdest offering, each song is more like a scene with repeating characters as different parts of the tracks blend in and out to tell the whole story. It's definitely meant to be played front to back, so I kept things brief. May you enjoy.
